OVERVIEW

Dance in the primary school context

Dance sits across two areas of the primary curriculum. In Creative Arts K-6, it is a mandatory strand. In PDHPE K-6, movement skills, body awareness, and creative expression are threaded through the stages. Most schools find it difficult to deliver both with confidence, particularly where specialist knowledge isn’t available in-house.

As part of our PDHPE and sports programs across Australia, dance sessions fit into your existing timetable, with the same teachers working with each class throughout the term. Progression from week to week is what makes structured dance delivery different from a one-off workshop.

Our team brings all equipment, sets up before students arrive, and packs away at the end. Dance is one of the few strands that requires specialist knowledge, dedicated music, and a clear hall setup, none of which schools need to manage when we deliver. We provide outcome documentation covering both syllabuses to coordinators before the term begins.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

A complete dance program

Stage-based dance sessions

Sessions are mapped to Creative Arts and PDHPE movement outcomes for each stage. Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 build rhythm, spatial awareness, and body control. Stage 2 introduces choreographic sequences and cooperative performance. Stage 3 develops creative composition, cultural dance contexts, and performance confidence.

Weekly program delivery

Term-long weekly sessions build progressively, with each session connecting to the last. Students develop movement vocabulary and performance confidence across the term rather than approaching each session as a standalone activity.

Workshops and event programs

Single-session workshops are available for Harmony Day, cultural events, school celebrations, and reward days. For schools planning a Year 6 farewell or end-of-year performance, structured preparation programs are available, with our teachers present at the event itself.

All equipment supplied

Our team supplies music, sound equipment, and any session props. We set up everything before students arrive and pack away at the end. Schools provide the space.

Qualified teachers

Every teacher holds current NESA accreditation and a valid Working with Children Check. Teachers are experienced across all primary stages and briefed on your school before the first session.

Sporting Schools delivery

As a registered Sporting Schools provider, we help eligible primary schools use their grant funding towards dance programs. Schools running both dance and gymnastics programs across the year can apply the Sporting Schools grant to either, with our team supporting the application for each.

Dance was always a gap in what we could deliver confidently.

Dance was always a gap in what we could deliver confidently. Having qualified teachers run structured sessions that mapped to our Creative Arts outcomes made it straightforward for our coordinator to account for.

FAQs

Each session is mapped to PDHPE K-6 movement outcomes for the relevant stage, supporting curriculum delivery. Where sessions also address Creative Arts dance outcomes, coordinators receive documentation covering both.

A standard school hall is sufficient. Our team sets up before students arrive. No specialist facility or permanent equipment is required.

Sessions can be structured toward a performance or farewell event from the start of term, with our teachers present at the event itself. Share your date at the time of booking so the program accounts for it.

Single-session workshops are available for Harmony Day, cultural celebrations, reward days, and special events. They are self-contained and require no preparation from school staff.

The program covers the Creative Arts dance strand and the relevant PDHPE movement outcomes, which frees coordinators for the areas of the curriculum that benefit most from an ongoing classroom teacher relationship.

Each session is mapped to both the Creative Arts K-6 dance outcomes and the PDHPE K-6 movement outcomes for the relevant stage. Coordinators receive documentation covering both, which accounts for dance across two KLAs without generating additional paperwork.
